MOI Awamu ya Tatu

Since its establishment in 1996, Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute has gone through various phases, including MOI phase I, MOI phase II and Currently MOI phase III which involves Ultra modern building with 7 storeys upon its completion construction cost estimated to be 30 Billion Tshs.

MOI Phase III is expected to transform the provision of Health services in the country; it will incorporate state of the art diagnostic services such as MRI and CT-SACAN, e-health and Telemedicine to better improve provision of health services in country

Another salient feature in phase III is the introduction of Cyber knife, Digital Subtraction Angiograph (DSA) in the future; this will enable MOI to keep on being a unique and centre of excellence in Specialised Health Services in Orthopaedic, Neurosurgery and Traumatology in East and Central Africa

However, it is the solution to the current problem of patient congestion at the institute as it will enable the Institute to have the bed capacity of more than 380 beds from the current capacity of 159 and it will reduce the number of costly referral outside the country
